Fun for all the family!

The 2012 festival is again at the historic Moira Furnace, on the restored length of the Ashby Canal. Over the weekend of 19th - 20th May, there will be a wide range of entertainment for all.
We regularly have a re-enactment society at this event, and this year is no exception and we are pleased to welcome the return of the popular Tommy Atkins WW 2 re-enactment group.
New for this year are Zero Gravity, a spectacular mountain bike stunt team, who will amaze you with their skill. We have a 10 piece swing band for your gentle entertainment, Morris Dancing to liven things up, crafty fun for the children, live steam, a variety of stalls and demonstrsations, boats, bar and refreshments, all revolving round the banks of the Ashby Canal, at the Heart of the National Forest.
The festival aims to raise awareness and funding for the restoration of
the Ashby Canal. The £14 million project to reconnect the isolated section between
Donisthorpe and Moira to the current terminus at Snarestone began last year, but there
is still a long way to go… about 5 miles, 2 aqueducts and new locks.
The Moira Furnace Museum
will be open and the Joseph Wilkes trip boat will be running.
We look forward to seeing you at the Canal Festival -and catch up on progress on the Ashby Canal
restoration at the Ashby Canal Association tent.
